First Luxury Oceanfront Property Opens in El Salvador Surfing Hotspot

The all-new Wave House El Zonte now invites travelers to discover the coastal town of El Zonte and its world-class surf breaks along El Salvador’s Pacific coastline. As the first upscale hotel in El Zonte, the property features 19 thoughtfully designed residences that combine spacious living, full kitchens, and easy access to black-sand beaches, local cafés and restaurants, and renowned surf spots. Located on the stretch nicknamed “Bitcoin Beach,” Wave House sits about an hour by rental car from San Salvador.

Residences at Wave House range from studios to three-bedroom penthouses. Studio units provide ocean views from a private balcony or patio, while two-bedroom residences offer a mix of ocean and mountain vistas visible from the terrace, bedrooms, living area, and kitchen.

The three-bedroom residences elevate the stay with seamless indoor-outdoor living; one residence even includes a private pool alongside sweeping views of the verdant mountains or the Pacific Ocean.

Interiors blend local craftsmanship with curated imports. Furniture was created by CHWashington Studio, a Salvadoran design studio, while select pieces were sourced from Spain. Textiles come from local artisan brands such as Lulu Mena, a women-owned label, and pottery is a collaboration between the Wave House team and Shicali Ceramics, a non-profit studio that employs artisans with disabilities.

The property showcases local artists in its lobby gallery and collaborates with Bendito Fuego and other notable local chefs to provide an elevated dining program. Amenities include an infinity pool overlooking the Pacific and a poolside cocktail bar created in partnership with Minibar® Miami. A 5,000-square-foot rooftop deck offers panoramic ocean views, a wellness area with Jacuzzi and cold plunge, a massage and physical therapy room, and a dedicated lounge for relaxation.

El Salvador’s main international gateway, Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez International Airport, is located in San Luis Talpa in La Paz and is roughly one hour and 15 minutes by rental car from El Zonte. Several U.S. carriers offer direct or one-stop service to San Salvador, making Wave House an accessible option for travelers seeking surf, relaxation, and local culture on El Salvador’s Pacific coast.
