Finnair Marks 90 Years: Anniversary Flights, History & Future

Finnair is celebrating a major milestone this year. The airline, one of the world’s oldest still in operation, marked its 90th anniversary on November 1. Founded in 1923, Finnair connects Helsinki to more than 60 European cities and 13 destinations across Asia.

“We build on a legacy of creating better connections between Europe and Asia and our vision of doubling our Asian revenue by 2020,” said Pekka Vauramo, CEO of Finnair.

To commemorate the anniversary, Finnair partnered with Finnish graphic designer Erik Bruun to produce a limited series of commemorative posters. The airline has also introduced Marimekko-designed tableware and textiles across its business and economy cabins, bringing a distinct Finnish design touch to the onboard experience. In addition, Finnair enhanced its in-flight entertainment offerings, expanding the selection to around 72 movies and more than 150 television programs.
