The first aircraft to wear Lufthansa’s new Fanhansa livery took to the skies last week. The Airbus A321-200, named after the town of Göttingen in Lower Saxony, completed a short flight from Munich (MUC) to Hamburg (HAM).
To celebrate the FIFA World Cup in Brazil this summer, a total of eight Lufthansa aircraft will carry the Fanhansa branding. This fleet includes two additional short-haul aircraft and five long-haul aircraft, among them a Boeing 747-8, all temporarily sporting the new logo in place of the airline’s usual livery.
Fanhansa-branded aircraft will transport the German national football team to Brazil as part of Lufthansa’s partnership with the German Football Association, and will also carry thousands of traveling supporters. Onboard promotions, at check-in counters and at departure gates across German airports will give passengers the chance to participate in Fanhansa activities, including immediate opportunities to win or qualify for tickets to travel to Brazil on a Fanhansa plane.
These special liveries and fan-focused initiatives are designed to build excitement and support for the national team, offering fans a visible, celebratory connection between air travel and the sporting event. The combination of dedicated aircraft, on-the-ground promotions and in-flight experiences aims to make travel to the World Cup memorable for supporters while showcasing Lufthansa’s role as an official partner.
