Looking for relaxed country fun? The Common Ground Country Fair in Unity, Maine, offers small-town charm, hands-on activities and organic farm stands for visitors of all ages.
Held Sept. 21–23, the fair features crafts, demonstrations on organic farming and gardening techniques, livestock shows and stalls overflowing with fresh fruit and produce. Attendees can try traditional skills like spinning wool, learn about raising sheep, and watch demonstrations that highlight sustainable farming practices.
Founded by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association in 1977, the fair began as a grassroots celebration of the land’s beauty and productivity. Today it draws more than 60,000 visitors each year who come to learn practical skills, connect with local growers and enjoy a lively community atmosphere.
The full schedule will be released in mid-August. Expect events such as horse and donkey shows, a fun run, family games, sheepdog demonstrations and sessions focused on botanical topics for gardeners. Whether you’re a seasoned homesteader or a curious newcomer, the fair offers activities and inspiration for everyone.
