Etihad Airways will begin operating a second daily flight between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Kuala Lumpur (KUL) starting July 15, adding approximately 1,400 seats each week. Both services will be operated with two-class Airbus A330-200 aircraft, configured with 18 business class seats and 236 economy seats.
Etihad’s expansion responds to sustained passenger demand on the Abu Dhabi–Kuala Lumpur route. Since launching services in January 2007, the airline has transported more than one million passengers to and from Malaysia. The additional daily frequency provides travelers with more options for departure times and greater flexibility when planning trips between the two cities, whether for business or leisure.
James Hogan, president and CEO of Etihad, emphasized that the double daily schedule reflects growing interest in travel between the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia and improves connectivity for customers. The use of the A330-200 on both rotations ensures consistent onboard product and capacity across the day, supporting both premium and economy travelers.
The new frequency is expected to benefit a wide range of passengers, from frequent business travelers seeking convenient timing to families and tourists looking for more choice and competitive seat availability. Increased frequency can also enhance connections through Abu Dhabi to Etihad’s global network, making onward travel simpler for those transiting the UAE capital.
Customers planning travel to Malaysia or through Abu Dhabi should find improved scheduling flexibility and additional seat availability after July 15. Etihad’s continued investment in the route highlights the airline’s commitment to serving growing markets and adapting capacity to meet traveler demand.
