Delta’s New Beijing Lounge: What Travelers Need to Know

The second SkyTeam-branded lounge in Greater China and the alliance’s sixth worldwide will open soon at Beijing Capital International Airport, giving SkyTeam the largest branded-lounge presence among global airline alliances. The alliance offered a preview of the new facility, which will welcome first- and business-class passengers as well as elite plus members traveling on any of the 12 SkyTeam carriers operating at the airport.

Located in a spacious 800-square-meter area, the lounge can seat up to 160 guests and is designed to provide a comfortable, upscale pre-flight experience. SkyTeam’s signature design elements—elegant, modern curves paired with natural wood accents—define the décor. Beijing Aviation ground services will manage and operate the lounge on behalf of the alliance.

Perry Cantarutti, chief executive officer and managing director of SkyTeam, noted the alliance’s strong passenger volumes through Beijing and the value of expanding branded lounge options in the region. “More than 14 million SkyTeam passengers fly through Beijing each year and, as the largest alliance in Greater China, opening our second lounge underscores our commitment to enhancing the travel experience for our top customers in the region,” he said. “With the new lounge, SkyTeam will offer more branded lounges across its global network than any other airline alliance. Because these lounges are popular with our customers and add value for our members, we are developing plans to expand our global lounge portfolio even further.”

Guest amenities are focused on comfort, convenience and a variety of dining choices. The lounge features a buffet offering hot and cold Chinese and international dishes, an assortment of beverages, and large windows that fill the space with natural light and provide views of airport operations. Complimentary WiFi, workstations with computers and accessible power outlets support business and connectivity needs.

For passengers who want to refresh before a flight, the facility includes showers equipped with towels and toiletries. A tranquil retreat area offers a separate TV room and relaxation space, while a dedicated VIP room provides an added level of privacy and service for eligible guests.

The new Beijing SkyTeam lounge adds to the alliance’s global network of branded lounges, reflecting a broader strategy to enhance customer amenities and offer consistent lounge experiences for members across multiple regions.
