Delta Air Lines is expanding its presence in Latin America with two new destinations in Colombia: Medellín (MDE) and Cartagena (CTG). The addition of these routes strengthens Delta’s network and gives travelers more options for both leisure and business travel across the region.
Nicolas Ferri, Delta’s vice president for Latin America and the Caribbean, said the carrier aims to be the leading U.S. airline in the region by offering a broad route network that serves varied customer needs. The new Colombian services are part of a wider strategy of network growth and ongoing investment in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Service from Delta’s Atlanta (ATL) hub will connect to Medellín using Boeing 737-700 aircraft configured with 124 seats, while flights to Cartagena will operate on Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 160 seats. The Atlanta–Medellín flights will provide seamless one-stop connections to more than 200 destinations from Delta’s largest hub, including major European business gateways such as London (LHR), Madrid (MAD) and Paris (CDG). The Atlanta–Cartagena service opens convenient access to the Colombian Caribbean and its distinctive coastal destinations, appealing to both tourists and business travelers alike.
These additions complement Delta’s existing routes in Latin America and the Caribbean, enhancing connectivity for U.S. customers and supporting travel demand between North America and Colombia. By deploying right-sized aircraft for each market, Delta aims to match capacity with demand while maintaining a reliable schedule and convenient connections through Atlanta.
Passengers traveling to Medellín can expect easier access to the city’s cultural attractions and regional business centers, while travelers bound for Cartagena will benefit from direct access to the country’s historic coastal city and nearby beach destinations. Both routes are intended to provide useful options for travelers seeking direct, efficient service between the southeastern United States and Colombia.
With this network expansion, Delta continues to position its Atlanta hub as a key international gateway, linking passengers to a wide range of onward destinations. The new Colombia routes reinforce the airline’s focus on improving connectivity, offering customers more choices and streamlined travel options across the Americas and beyond.
