Throughout December, Delta Air Lines employees gave generously to support underprivileged children in the communities where they live and work.
Alongside numerous employee-led toy drives that collected thousands of new toys, Delta partnered with the Marine Toys for Tots program as part of the airline’s pledge to return 1 percent to the community.
“Delta employees give back year-round, and their generosity is especially evident during the holiday season,” said Tad Hutcheson, managing director of community affairs for Delta Air Lines. “The Delta–Toys for Tots partnership combines grassroots employee efforts with corporate support, reaching communities across the United States.”
Employees presented checks totaling more than $500,000 to local chapters in cities such as Atlanta, Nashville, Boston, Detroit, New York and Seattle. Those funds were used to purchase new toys for children in those communities. In addition, Delta donated $100,000 to its national literacy program to buy books for kids.
In New York City, the airline presented a $25,000 check to the local Toys for Tots chapter, supplementing a previous $50,000 donation.
The Marine Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys from October through December and distributes them as holiday gifts to children in need. Delta’s support not only bolsters that effort but also advances community affairs initiatives that honor service members and veterans and promote childhood literacy.
