Delta App Automatically Checks Users In for Flights

Travelers who downloaded the Delta Air Lines mobile app on their smartphone now get a useful convenience that simplifies pre-flight preparation.

Starting 24 hours before departure, passengers receive their boarding pass directly on their mobile device. Previously, airlines sent reminders by email to check in online or via the app; with automatic boarding pass delivery, travelers can often skip that extra step.

There are exceptions: the feature does not apply to passengers who need to check bags, choose specific seats, purchase optional insurance, or complete other arrangements that require payment or additional information. Those travelers must complete those tasks in advance or within the 24-hour check-in window in order to access their boarding passes, as was required previously.

By introducing automatic boarding pass delivery through its mobile app, Delta is the first U.S. carrier to offer this level of automated convenience for passengers using the airline’s app.
