El San Juan Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, is an iconic luxury property that has become the first Curio hotel to open in Puerto Rico. The addition expands the growing North American Curio Collection, a portfolio designed for travelers who seek distinctive, locally influenced experiences.
Originally opened in 1958, El San Juan Hotel long attracted celebrities such as Tony Bennett and Sammy Davis Jr. Following extensive renovations, the property now operates as a 388-room hotel under the Curio Collection banner, blending its celebrated history with modern comforts and amenities.
“With the El San Juan Hotel reopening today, we are proud to continue our growth throughout the Caribbean by welcoming you as the first Curio Collection property in this spectacular destination — a hotel that honors its proud past while offering the modern features that today’s curious traveler has come to expect,” said Mark Nogal, global head of Curio Collection by Hilton.
Located in the Isla Verde district of San Juan, the hotel sits less than two miles from a pristine urban beach recently recognized among the top 10 most popular urban beaches in North America. Puerto Rico’s average temperature of 79 degrees and its blend of natural beauty, culture and history make the destination appealing year-round.
The property showcases five award-winning restaurants overseen by Executive Chef Gonzalo Rivera. An additional restaurant is scheduled to open this spring, helmed by a chef with more than 15 years of experience directing top restaurants in Spain and Miami.
El San Juan Hotel also offers extensive event and leisure facilities, including an 11,000-square-foot ballroom—one of the largest in San Juan—four swimming pools and the San Juan Beach Club. Guests can expect new programming and enhanced amenities over the coming months, including a state-of-the-art spa, upgraded fitness facilities and additional dining concepts.
Combining a storied past with contemporary design and service, El San Juan Hotel aims to deliver a refined yet relaxed experience for guests visiting Puerto Rico, catering to both leisure travelers and those attending conferences or special events.
