Emirates now lets passengers browse and choose in-flight entertainment before take-off using the airline’s app. Travelers can build a personal playlist in advance and sync it to their seat once they board, making the onboard experience quicker and more convenient.
The feature is currently available on 100 Boeing 777 aircraft and will be introduced across the full Emirates fleet in the coming months.
Emirates offers more than 1,000 movies through its ICE entertainment system, which the airline says is more than any other carrier. In addition to films, ICE provides a wide selection of television shows, podcasts, music and games to suit many tastes.
Beyond entertainment, the app allows passengers to preview flight menus and wine lists up to a month before departure. During seat selection, travelers can also view a 3D map of the interior layout for both the A380 and 777, helping them choose the most suitable seat for their needs.
“This latest functionality on the Emirates app elevates the customer experience even before they step onto the aircraft,” said Tim Clark, president, Emirates. “Our customers can now browse the unmatched content on offer and create personal entertainment playlists at their leisure, and once comfortably settled in their seats on board, they simply sync and press play.”
The advance playlist and pre-flight browsing features aim to streamline the journey from boarding to relaxation. By letting passengers prepare entertainment, meals and seating in advance, Emirates seeks to reduce wait time and enhance comfort on board. As the rollout continues, more travelers will gain access to these conveniences, making the entire travel experience smoother and more personalized.
