Chocolate Afternoon Tea at One Aldwych in London

The Lobby Bar at One Aldwych, one of London’s most refined addresses, is hosting a themed Afternoon Tea inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The menu, created by executive chef Dominic Teague, features imaginative treats such as a coconut cream and mango golden egg, chocolate caramel milk, and candy floss paired with rhubarb and custard pear drops.

The experience mixes playful confections with classic tea service. Alongside a selection of award-winning teas and herbal infusions, guests can opt for Lallier Grand Reserve Champagne. For a more theatrical tipple, the Cocktail Charlie combines Dalmore whisky, Cherry Marnier, chocolate bitters and Champagne, and is presented with a selection of handmade chocolate truffles.

This limited-time Afternoon Tea runs through Sept. 2 to coincide with the staging of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the nearby Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. The themed tea is also included in two special ticket packages: One Aldwych Stay & Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Afternoon Tea & Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Advance reservations for Afternoon Tea are recommended to secure your preferred time.

The Lobby Bar setting offers an elegant backdrop for both theatre-goers and visitors seeking a memorable culinary twist on a beloved story. The balance of inventive sweets, traditional tea choices and optional Champagne or cocktails creates an experience suited to celebrations, special occasions or a distinctive afternoon treat in central London.
