Centara Opens First Middle East Hotel: What Travelers Need to Know

Centara Hotels & Resorts will open its first 5-star property in the Middle East in 2016, located in the newly developed West Bay district of Doha. The Centara Grand West Bay Hotel Doha is planned to offer 264 guestrooms and 96 residences, along with four contemporary food and beverage outlets, a full-service spa, a fitness center and generous meeting and event facilities, including a ballroom, a business center and several smaller meeting rooms.

Chris Bailey, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Centara Hotels & Resorts, commented that Qatar’s rise as both a business and leisure destination makes the new property an important addition: “With this property, we are in a very strong marketing position and can well cater to international guests.”

The Centara Grand 5-star brand currently operates ten properties across Thailand and has additional locations in Bali, the Maldives and Mauritius. The group also has plans to expand into markets such as Vietnam, Shanghai and Addis Ababa, strengthening its global footprint.
