Yoga-minded travelers flying Cathay Pacific can now practice gentle stretches and breathing exercises during their journey. In partnership with international studio Pure Yoga, the airline has introduced a set of in-flight yoga and meditation sessions available through its entertainment system.
The program includes short videos in Cantonese, English, Mandarin and Japanese that passengers can access from the Lifestyle section of the in-flight entertainment menu. Designed to be practical and calming, these routines help reduce discomfort from long periods of sitting and support overall wellbeing while traveling.
“We all know that sitting still for a long period of time can be uncomfortable,” said Simon Cuthbert, entertainment platforms and connectivity manager at Cathay Pacific. He emphasized the importance of moving periodically: “The need to get up, move and get your blood pumping is important during a flight. Yoga is an innovative way to do this. There are a series of exercises that can easily be done from an economy class seat whilst other moves are suitable for after the flight in your hotel.”
The Travel Well with Yoga program features six easy-to-follow videos led by Pure Yoga’s founding teacher, Patrick Creelman, and senior instructor and co-founder Almen Wong. The routines focus on improving circulation and mobility while promoting relaxation of both body and mind, making them suitable for short stretches between meals, before sleep, or upon arrival.
Gary Wise, regional marketing director of Pure Group, highlighted the studio’s ongoing mission to make yoga’s physical and mental benefits accessible to more people: “Pure Yoga has been a pioneer in shedding light on yoga’s numerous physical and mental benefits whilst making them more accessible. Travel Well with Yoga is a huge step forward in that process, and we’re delighted to present this unique program in collaboration with a partner as prestigious as Cathay Pacific.”
By offering guided, language-diverse sessions directly on board, Cathay Pacific and Pure Yoga aim to help passengers feel more comfortable, refreshed and centered during and after flights. The concise format and clear instruction make the exercises easy to follow regardless of seat type or travel experience, providing a practical wellness option for frequent flyers and occasional travelers alike.
