Working exclusively with local suppliers, the retreat reinterprets Alpine luxury with a contemporary, sustainable approach. The name eriro is derived from an Old High German term meaning “the entrance of the forest.” The nine suites reflect regional architecture and use carefully controlled exterior lighting to limit light pollution while incorporating generous floor-to-ceiling windows that bathe interiors in natural light.

Each suite is distinct. The Boum suite, for example, features a king-size bed, a cozy nook with a games and dining table, a bathroom with a rain shower and separate bathtub, a balcony with a stargazer’s daybed, and a tea and coffee station plus a minibar. The Himil suite accommodates up to four guests and includes a private sauna, an open fireplace and a freestanding bathtub for a more social, restorative stay.

Suites are intentionally television-free to encourage unplugged relaxation. Guests find thoughtful touches such as woolen socks, a record player with a wireless speaker, WiFi and practical mountain-ready items provided for convenience and comfort.

The on-site restaurant follows a zero-waste philosophy. Head Chef David Franken and his team forage daily in surrounding forests and work closely with local farms to source ingredients for a menu rooted in Tyrolean flavors. Dishes are inspired by regional produce and traditional methods, often finished over local wood, heated stone or open flame to emphasize natural textures and smoky notes.

For relaxation, the spa sits below the main building amid exposed rock, forests and alpine meadows. Facilities include plunge pools, Finnish saunas and treatment rooms where seasonal therapies reflect the rhythms of the Alps. The spa program also offers guided meditation and yoga sessions to support restful, restorative stays.

Located roughly 1.5 hours northwest of Innsbruck and about two hours southwest of Munich, eriro provides a secluded Alpine escape that blends regional craftsmanship, sustainable practices and immersive local experiences.
