Arrival/Check-In: I arrived at the security gate at 9 a.m. hoping the hotel would hold my luggage until I returned from meetings later that day. After approval to enter, several members of the Burj Al Arab staff greeted me by name at the entrance and escorted me straight to my suite. My two-level suite on the 13th floor welcomed me with fresh orange juice served by my butler, Christine, and a guided tour. My bags were already in the dressing area, and the check-in was completed in-suite at a grand desk equipped with a computer and printer.
Guest Quarters: Upon entering, a large chandelier and a sweeping marble staircase immediately caught my eye, leading up to the bedroom. To the left of the entrance were a powder room and a work area, but the view through floor-to-ceiling windows stole the show—expansive sights of the water and the Dubai coastline. The living area included two generous sofas, a dining table with chairs, and thoughtfully hidden cabinets housing a minibar, fine glassware, and a selection of coffee and tea. The nautical blue and gold palette reinforced the hotel’s iconic sail-inspired design.
On the upper level, the bedroom also featured expansive windows. A flat-screen television rose from the entertainment unit and could retract to preserve the view. Between the bedroom and bathroom, a spacious dressing area provided multiple closets and a makeup vanity. The bathroom itself was notable for his-and-her sinks and full-size Hermès bath products and fragrances. A large separate bathtub and a shower with multiple faucets and precise temperature controls delivered a truly luxurious bathing experience.
Services/Amenities: Renowned as one of the world’s most luxurious hotels, Burj Al Arab combines exceptional service with a wide selection of amenities. Leisure guests can access Jumeirah Beach and enjoy Wild Wadi Waterpark as part of their stay, with private golf carts providing transportation to these destinations as well as the nearby Madinat Jumeirah. On-site, guests can relax at the Talise Spa or choose from five restaurants and several lounges for dining. (Note: the waterpark follows an annual maintenance schedule at times each year.)
The Experience: The hotel’s reputation for luxury proved well earned. From the moment you cross the bridge to the property, staff attentiveness and attention to detail create a regal, indulgent atmosphere. The Burj Al Arab delivers a distinctive, memorable experience that stands apart from other hotels.
