British Airways Austin Customer Service Guide

British Airways will begin non-stop service between Austin (AUS) and London (LHR) on March 3, marking Austin’s first trans-Atlantic route. Flights are operated with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, launching at five times weekly and increasing to daily service in May.

Travelers from Austin will have a choice of three cabin classes: Club World (business), World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and World Traveller (economy). The Dreamliner features refreshed interiors and modern inflight entertainment systems, along with a selection of meals, snacks and beverages and a standard generous baggage allowance. The aircraft also offers several passenger comfort improvements, including larger windows, improved cabin air quality, mood lighting, quieter cabins and a lower cabin pressure for a more comfortable journey.

In celebration of the new route, British Airways shared some notable facts about the airline, the 787 and Austin:

  • Austin is British Airways’ 25th North American gateway and its third destination in Texas.
  • The Boeing 787 has the largest windows of any commercial aircraft.
  • Nearly 13 million ping-pong balls could fit inside the passenger cabin of a 787.
  • British Airways orders up to 500,000 cases of wine annually for its flights.
  • In January 2000, British Airways became the first airline to introduce fully flat bed seats in business class.
  • The scheduled flight time from Austin to London is approximately nine hours.
