A tour company created to help women push past their perceived limits—that was the vision Niki Koubourlis had when she founded the Colorado-based adventure travel company Bold Betties. What began as a local meet-up of women who loved the outdoors quickly evolved into a national community and travel brand that blends outdoor challenge with social connection.
Today, Bold Betties has chapters across the United States and offers a broad range of domestic and international group trips. Sample itineraries include Night Ice Climbing in Lake George, Colorado; trekking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu; and a seven-day Best of Iceland trip featuring glacier hikes, whale watching, waterfalls and lava caves. The company also runs skills clinics in areas such as climbing techniques and canyoneering, and maintains an active online community where members share tips, swap gear advice and discuss recent trips.
The Bold Betties website provides practical travel guidance, including packing tips and recommendations for the type of luggage needed for specific situations—like mule-supported treks. To lower the barrier to entry for new adventures, the company rents out adventure gear so participants can try activities without making a large equipment purchase up front.
