BMW’s car-sharing service ReachNow in Seattle and Portland is encouraging urban residents to explore the outdoors by offering free state park passes to riders who use its vehicles.
ReachNow operates a fleet of more than 1,300 BMW and MINI cars available on demand across Seattle, Portland and Brooklyn. As part of its Wild Within Reach campaign in the Pacific Northwest, each car includes a free park pass to make it easier for members to drive to nearby state and national parks.
“With more and more people in urban areas forgoing car ownership to avoid traffic and parking headaches, getting outside the city has become a greater challenge,” said Laura Gonia, head of marketing at ReachNow. “ReachNow members can find a car within walking distance and take a road trip without the need to plan ahead. We’re thrilled to take a more active role in getting people outdoors while also helping to preserve our state parks for generations to come.”
As an added incentive, ReachNow members who share their park visits on Instagram, tag @reachnow and include the hashtag #WildWithinReach receive a $10 promo code.
Washington State Parks Foundation executive director John Floberg praised the program: “We’re so grateful that ReachNow is providing transportation solutions to let more people experience the wonder and beauty of our spectacular state parks. With more than 120 parks across the state, there’s a staggering variety of natural, cultural and historical sites to visit, and the donations ReachNow makes for each trip will help ensure that our parks will remain destinations of choice.”
BMW will donate $30 to the Washington or Oregon State Parks Foundations for every trip to a state or national park taken this year, up to a combined total of $25,000.
Seth Miller, executive director of the Oregon State Parks Foundation, added: “We are thrilled to be working with ReachNow on their Wild Within Reach program. Accessibility and transportation are major priorities for us; we want everyone to be able to enjoy the Oregon State Parks system. This partnership will help provide more outdoor recreation opportunities for ReachNow’s membership.”
