Avianca Airlift Spreads Valentine’s Day Romance Worldwide

Gorgeous flowers abound this Valentine’s Day in brilliant hues and soft pastels—long stem, short stem, no stem—fresh as a daisy even in regions where garden beds remain frozen for weeks to come.

Avianca helped ensure those blooms reached northern destinations on time for the holiday. Between January 19 and February 8, the airline’s cargo division used specialized cold-chain technology and logistics to transport a wide variety of fresh flowers from Colombia and Ecuador to cities around the world.

The operation featured 176 nonstop flights from Bogotá (BOG), Medellín (MDE) and Quito (UIO) to Miami (MIA), Los Angeles (LAX) and San Juan (SJU). Close coordination with warehouse partners to maintain uninterrupted temperature control, together with Avianca’s Airbus A330 fleet outfitted with dedicated compartments and temperature-management systems, helped preserve product quality throughout the airlift.
