ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: Arriving at Penn Station, you want a hotel that keeps your transfer simple and swift. Arlo Midtown fits the bill: it’s just a 10-minute walk from the station, making it an excellent base for a Manhattan stay. We navigated the city bustle with our luggage and stepped into the hotel’s inviting lobby. The space feels open and contemporary, with greenery on shelves and in hanging planters that bring warmth and texture. The front desk staff greeted us promptly and handled check-in with a friendly, efficient touch.

GUEST QUARTERS: We stayed in a King City room on a higher floor, which offered broad views of the city through nearly wall-sized windows and filled the room with natural light. Like many Manhattan properties, the design makes efficient use of space. Although the room was compact, it comfortably accommodated our belongings. Opposite the bathroom, an open closet and dresser combined provided hanging space, shelves, and an ice bucket. Near the entry, a bench with a small side table proved handy for putting on shoes or setting down bags. The bathroom featured calming blue tile and a surprisingly roomy shower enclosed by a glass door.

SERVICES/AMENITIES: The lobby café was a welcome stop each morning — my mocha latte was a perfect boost before a day of sightseeing. Though we didn’t have time to try Altair, the hotel’s on-site restaurant, we appreciated how smoothly the staff handled luggage storage after checkout. On our final day, the lobby couches offered a comfortable spot to relax while waiting for our train.
