Airlines Shine in Awards Season: Top Winners and Highlights

This spring, several airlines are celebrating awards season on board by offering special screenings of Oscar-nominated films, giving passengers a chance to catch up on acclaimed Hollywood titles while they travel.

Through May, Virgin Atlantic Airways will feature every Oscar-nominated title in key categories — including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay. Highlights on the schedule include La La Land, Manchester by the Sea, Moonlight and Lion, among other notable nominees.

“Flying is one of the few occasions where you can turn off your phone, sit back and enjoy dinner and a movie without interruption. This spring our inflight entertainment will be extra special as we showcase all of the major nominated movies for customers to enjoy as they jet to Tinsel Town, Bollywood or beyond,” said Mark Anderson, executive vice president, customer, Virgin Atlantic.

LATAM Airlines is also marking awards season by offering 13 Oscar-nominated films, such as Hacksaw Ridge, Arrival and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. These titles will be available through May in both Economy and Premium Business classes on LATAM long-haul flights equipped with seatback in-flight entertainment systems, including Boeing 787, 767, 777 and Airbus A350 aircraft.

Passengers traveling this spring can expect a curated selection of acclaimed films, making flights more enjoyable and providing a convenient way to see award-season favorites while en route to destinations around the world.
