They’re back: Through Dec. 3 in southwest England, Summer Lodge Country House Hotel, Restaurant and Spa is once again hosting its popular Wine Dinners series. The Relais & Châteaux property’s award-winning executive chef, Steven Titman, has teamed up with acclaimed cellar master Eric Zwiebel to present 12 curated wine dinners. Each event features a guest speaker and a selection of wines focused on a particular style or house, paired with a seasonal four-course menu.
Each dinner includes five wines — beginning with an aperitif — matched to the menu. Among the highlights are two Black Tie Dinners: one on Aug. 6 featuring five guest sommeliers, and a second on Dec. 3 centered on Pommery Champagne. For guests seeking a shorter option, three lunchtime wine sessions are available, with prices starting at $80 per person. Evening wine dinners start from $155 per guest, while the Pommery Champagne Black Tie Dinner is priced from $235 per person.
In addition to the dinners, Summer Lodge offers afternoon wine workshops led by Eric Zwiebel alongside cellar master Emanuel Pesqueira. These hands-on sessions, available by request, are designed for small groups and are priced at $190 per person. For visitors who wish to make it a full getaway, wine dinners can be combined with overnight stays at the hotel as part of a Wine Dinner package.
Summer Lodge’s Wine Dinners emphasize thoughtful pairing, seasonal ingredients and expert-led wine education in an intimate country-house setting. The program appeals to wine enthusiasts and diners who appreciate guided tastings, a carefully curated wine list and the chance to sample both classic and lesser-known producers. Guests can expect attentive service, elegant plating and an emphasis on wines that complement and elevate each course.
Reservations are recommended, especially for the Black Tie events and the popular weekend dates. The Wine Dinner series provides a chance to enjoy exceptional wines alongside expertly prepared cuisine in a relaxed yet refined environment — a signature experience at the Summer Lodge Country House Hotel, Restaurant and Spa.
