Alaska Airlines has removed the usual first checked bag fee for holders of the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature consumer card.
“This is a benefit our customers have been asking for,” said Sangita Woerner, vice president of marketing at Alaska Airlines. “Visa Signature consumer cardholders and the friends and family traveling on the same reservation with them will now receive one free checked bag on every flight as a core benefit of our card program.”
Earlier this year, Alaska introduced a month-long promotion offering a free checked bag to all Mileage Plan members in January. In February, the airline expanded that offer specifically to Visa Signature consumer cardholders and has since made the benefit permanent for those cardholders.
The Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card also offers a sign-up bonus of 25,000 miles after approval when applicants apply online. Cardholders earn one mile per dollar on general retail purchases and three miles per dollar on purchases made directly with Alaska Airlines, enhancing rewards for frequent flyers.
