Yardley, Pa., March 28, 2013 – Global Traveler, the monthly magazine dedicated to business and luxury travelers, today announces the nominees for the 2013 Airline and Hotel of the Year awards. Which airline and hotel will join past honorees such as Asiana Airlines, South African Airways, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts and Jumeirah International as the next Airline and Hotel of the Year?
The nominees are selected through a staff-driven process. Each member of the Global Traveler team submits a list of 10 airlines and 10 hotels. Brands receiving two or more staff nominations are included on the final nominee list. Those nominees are then invited to complete an online application providing relevant information such as financial performance, occupancy rates, load factors, on-time performance, safety records and menu offerings. A panel made up of Global Traveler employees and Advisory Board members evaluates submissions alongside independent research and firsthand experience to choose the winners. Only invited nominees are considered for the awards.
Winners are ineligible for consideration for three years following their award. That means Asiana Airlines and Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts become eligible again in 2014, while South African Airways and Jumeirah International will be eligible again in 2015.
