Conrad New York Midtown Hotel Review: Luxury Suites, Rates & Tips

ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: From the moment I entered Conrad New York Midtown, the lobby made a strong impression. A striking sculpture of Leda and the Swan by Carole Feuerman greets guests, and the space balances polished design with a welcoming atmosphere. Staff offered warm greetings upon arrival. Although I arrived mid-morning and my room was not yet ready, the team handled everything efficiently: they checked me in, stored my luggage and even allowed me to freshen up in the restaurant restroom. The whole process was quick and effortless.

When I asked the doorman for directions to the Javits Center, he recommended walking toward the Hudson River. That route offered pleasant urban sights, including a view of the USS Intrepid.

GUEST QUARTERS: My priorities in a hotel room are bed comfort, shower performance and noise control. The City View suite delivered on all three. The king bed was exceptionally comfortable and provided a great night’s sleep. The shower offered strong water pressure and consistently hot water; its adjustable showerhead made the experience feel restorative. Soundproofing was excellent—I heard no hallway or street noise despite the Midtown location. Instead of a traditional mint on the pillow, a box of rich chocolates was waiting.

The suite’s separate living area included a sofa, dining table and refrigerator, making it practical for work or downtime. Both the bedroom and living room featured large flat-screen TVs and pleasant views across Midtown.

SERVICES/AMENITIES: The hotel’s substantial art collection spans 37 artists and includes notable pieces such as an original Henri Matisse lithograph, two Andy Warhol silkscreens and limited-edition photographs by Amy Judd. The 24-hour fitness center, at roughly 1,500 square feet, is larger than many hotel gyms and well equipped; I appreciated the heavy bag and the variety of machines and free weights, which made for some of the best hotel workouts I’ve experienced. Other practical perks include fast elevators and reliable WiFi. Dabble, the on-site restaurant, projects a lively, casual energy even if you only pass through. The property also offers seven flexible venues for meetings and events, and a signature scent called Conrad Serenity by Air Aroma subtly perfumes the public spaces.
