Since the debut of the first Mondrian property in Los Angeles in 1996, Accor’s Mondrian brand has repeatedly reimagined lifestyle hospitality, bringing bold creativity and immersive design to each new location. Every hotel in the collection reads like a creative statement: imaginative interiors, forward-looking design and atmospheric spaces that reflect the culture and character of their surroundings.

Those defining qualities—distinctive design, cultural sensitivity and a focus on lifestyle programming—have driven Mondrian’s growth. The brand now comprises 11 properties in some of the world’s most culturally vibrant destinations, each reflecting local energy while maintaining a cohesive creative identity.
Mondrian’s entry into Australia represents a significant chapter in that expansion. As part of Ennismore, the fast-growing lifestyle hospitality group, Mondrian is bringing its expressive approach to the beach town of Burleigh Heads on Queensland’s iconic coastline. Set beside one of the Gold Coast’s most celebrated beaches and framed by striking natural scenery, Mondrian Gold Coast is planned to open in 2025 and aims to capture Burleigh’s eclectic spirit, creative community and sun-soaked surf culture.

“Australia has long been a strategic focus for Mondrian’s growth, and the Gold Coast was an obvious choice because of its remarkable natural setting, rich cultural landscape and lively social scene,” said Chadi Farhat, brand COO, Mondrian Hotels & Residences. “In recent years demand has grown for lifestyle destinations that offer authentic, creative and immersive experiences. Bringing Mondrian to the Gold Coast felt natural; we expect it will resonate strongly with locals and visitors and add a fresh perspective to the hospitality scene.”

Australian architecture firm Fraser & Partners has shaped the project across 24 floors to maximize views of the pine-framed Burleigh Beach, the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding green landscape. The hotel’s interior program, developed by Studio Carter, focuses on a refined coastal aesthetic that draws on the contrast between sugar-white sands and pandanus-lined shorelines. The accommodation will include 208 studios, suites and residences, highlighted by expansive two- and three-bedroom Beach Houses and a distinctive rooftop Sky House.
Public spaces are designed to celebrate the region’s outdoor lifestyle and culinary scene. The ground-floor restaurant opens onto a sun-drenched terrace that merges indoors and out, capturing Burleigh’s street-level vibrancy. On the third floor, an oceanfront restaurant and pool club will showcase the Gold Coast’s fresh, local produce and inventive cuisine while offering direct coastal views. Guest wellbeing is front of mind, with a dedicated spa and wellness center focused on contemporary treatments and recovery practices. Flexible event spaces and hybrid meeting facilities are also included, providing a modern setting for gatherings and celebrations.
Mondrian Gold Coast aims to be more than a hotel: it seeks to be a cultural hub that reflects the creative pulse of its community. Through locally informed design, curated food and beverage concepts, and a program of immersive experiences, the property intends to offer both visitors and residents a new destination for dining, socializing and relaxation on the Gold Coast. With an emphasis on authentic local expression and thoughtful hospitality, Mondrian’s arrival in Burleigh Heads adds a distinctive creative voice to Australia’s coastal hotel landscape.
