Brown Hotels, the international hospitality group, is opening a second property in its Isla Brown collection of luxury design resorts. Scheduled to welcome guests in May 2023, Isla Brown Chania expands Brown Hotels’ 5-star portfolio on the northern coast of Crete, Greece, offering sweeping views across the Mediterranean Sea.

Located just a 15-minute drive from Chania International Airport and roughly 30 minutes from Chania city center, Isla Brown Chania aims to refresh Crete’s hospitality scene with contemporary design, elevated food and beverage concepts and modern amenities. Chania itself is celebrated for its 14th-century Venetian harbor, winding streets and lively waterfront restaurants. At the harbor entrance stands a 16th-century lighthouse influenced by Venetian, Egyptian and Ottoman styles, while cultural attractions such as the Nautical Museum and the Archaeological Museum of Chania add historic depth to the destination.
Brown Hotels, known for quirky, design-led urban properties, expanded into beachfront resorts in 2022 with Isla Brown Corinthia on the Saronic Gulf. Isla Brown Chania embraces a clean, organic design inspired by its natural surroundings. Greek architecture studio Liakos Associates Architects used natural materials and a refined interior palette of earthy, neutral tones. The resort features 148 rooms and suites, multiple dining venues, an outdoor bar and lounge, three swimming pools, and a spa and wellness center.

Guest accommodations reflect the resort’s organic aesthetic, featuring a soothing mix of cream, taupe and brown tones, with green velvet and marble accents, natural wood finishes and subtle gold details. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring abundant natural light and frame views of the Mediterranean. Every room and suite includes a private balcony, complimentary high-speed WiFi, flat HD TV, bathrobes, slippers and premium bathroom amenities. Select suites offer private splash pools, and an additional 30 splash-pool suites are planned to open in 2024.
Isla Brown Chania’s outdoor terrace sits at the water’s edge, combining a pool, lounge and generous bar area where guests can enjoy drinks, light bites and casual pizza. Dining is a focal point at the resort, which offers three distinct restaurant concepts: a main restaurant with contemporary, fresh dishes and an á la carte option, the signature Brown Hotels breakfast buffet, and a traditional taverna featuring classic Greek cuisine.
The wellness center provides a tranquil retreat with a range of spa treatments, a hammam, sauna and a fully equipped gym, designed to support both relaxation and wellbeing.
