Phoenix Sky Harbor Coin Drive Raises Funds for USO Arizona

Next time you empty pockets of loose change while passing through security at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, consider donating that spare change to support a program that serves U.S. military members and their families.

Phoenix Sky Harbor recently launched a donation initiative in partnership with USO Arizona. Change receptacles have been placed in front of each security checkpoint across the terminals so travelers can easily contribute coins and small bills to support services for active-duty personnel, veterans and military families.

Each year roughly 23,000 troops and family members visit the USO lounge in Terminal 4, the airport’s busiest terminal. The USO provides a quiet, comfortable space for service members and their loved ones before flights, along with amenities such as a café, children’s play area, computer kiosks, a movie room and a gaming area.

Small donations collected at security checkpoints help maintain these services and enhance the travel experience for military travelers. Contributing loose change is a simple, low-effort way for passengers to show appreciation and support for those serving the nation during transit.

By placing donation boxes at security points, Sky Harbor aims to make giving convenient and visible, encouraging travelers to make a difference without changing their travel routine. The partnership highlights the airport’s commitment to the local military community and ensures the USO can continue offering a welcoming environment for service members and their families.

If you travel through Terminal 4 or the other terminals at Phoenix Sky Harbor, look for the change receptacles near security checkpoints and consider dropping in your spare coins. Even small contributions add up and help preserve the services and comforts that the USO provides to thousands of military travelers each year.
