Viceroy Hotel Group announced the opening of Viceroy Chicago on Sept. 1, marking the brand’s first property in the Midwest.
The modern, 180-room luxury hotel occupies the site of the former Cedar Hotel and showcases culinary programs developed with Chicago’s acclaimed Boka Restaurant Group.
Located at the corner of Cedar and State Streets, the urban resort rises 18 stories and features the neighborhood’s first rooftop pool, enclosed by floor-to-ceiling windows with views toward Lake Michigan. The hotel sits within easy walking distance of the Magnificent Mile, Oak Street’s designer boutiques and many of the city’s best-known dining destinations, including Gibson’s Bar & Steakhouse and Fig & Olive.

Viceroy Chicago places an emphasis on community connections and curated guest programming. Wellness and fashion offerings include Chill Chicago, a contemporary meditation studio; CorePower Yoga, a nationwide yoga provider; and FELT, an upscale women’s boutique from Logan Square that provides personal styling sessions and private shopping opportunities for hotel guests.
The hotel’s design draws inspiration from the Flâneur, the French literary archetype of the keen observer and urban explorer. Interiors highlight bold art installations and a dramatic 30-foot poem wall. Guestrooms are distinguished by a custom headboard wall featuring a digital reproduction of an original artwork by London-based artist Tim Modus, tying together the property’s artistic and literary influences.
With its combination of elevated dining, wellness partnerships, thoughtful design and a prominent lakeside location, Viceroy Chicago aims to serve both visitors and the local community as a refined urban resort and cultural meeting point in the heart of the city.
