Arrival/Check-In: After a late-night departure from Washington, D.C. (IAD) and a layover in Casablanca (CMN), I arrived in Doha roughly 24 hours later and was more than ready for rest. Despite the hotel still being lively at that hour, check-in was efficient and I was personally escorted to my guestroom. A hot shower and a good night’s sleep were exactly what I needed.
Guest Quarters: Arriving late and tired, the bathroom was the first thing that caught my attention: a spacious shower and a separate tub, plus generous counter space that made unpacking quick and easy. The water pressure was excellent and the hot shower was restorative.
The room itself was comfortable and well laid out, suitable for an extended stay despite my brief visit. It featured a bedroom area with a comfortable bed and a living area with a couch, table, chair, and desk. Like all guestrooms at the property, mine included a private balcony with sea views.
My stay was short, but restful. I slept soundly and woke up ready to continue my journey.
Services/Amenities: My overnight stay meant I only experienced a slice of Doha life through this property, but the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel is a Doha landmark, and staying here felt like experiencing the city itself.
The hotel’s location is convenient: adjacent to Sheraton Park and the Corniche Promenade, about three minutes from the Qatar International Exhibition Center, and roughly 10 miles from Hamad International Airport.
Facilities include 24-hour fitness amenities, an outdoor pool and Jacuzzi, and 19 meeting rooms capable of hosting up to 2,000 guests. Dining options are plentiful across multiple outlets, and the lobby lounge is a pleasant place to relax—I enjoyed a cappuccino there before departing.
TOP TAKEAWAYS:
◆ The hotel features 10 food and beverage outlets offering a variety of cuisines, from Lebanese and South American to Italian and seafood. I had breakfast at Al Hubara Restaurant, which serves an extensive buffet.
◆ The sea-view guestroom felt surprisingly spacious, with a king-sized bed, a separate sitting area set a few steps down from the bedroom, and a large deck.
◆ Booking a club room provides access to the Sheraton Club Lounge, which includes high-speed internet, breakfast, complimentary beverages and snacks throughout the day, happy hour, daily in-room amenities, and one hour of complimentary use of the business center boardroom.
