Sense Beach Hotel Miami Beach: Boutique Oceanfront Stay & Amenities

Arrival/Check-In: My colleague and I arrived in Miami on a Friday and checked in to Sense Beach House after two days in the city. Our rooms were not ready at first, but a staff member kindly held our bags while we attended afternoon meetings and dinner. The check-in area is informal — a small desk where a friendly attendant handles requests in an attentive, relaxed manner. There isn’t a formal doorman, although valet service is available.

Guest Quarters: This 18-room boutique hotel feels like a private beach house just one block from South Beach. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, with coastal décor—starfish and seashell accents—that evokes familiar shore houses. Rooms come in two color schemes; I stayed in a blue room (the other option is sand). Decorated in soothing sea-inspired hues, my room had two king-sized beds, a long desk-table hybrid with a minibar, and a flat-screen TV mounted above. The large bathroom featured a stall shower, a single sink, and a generously sized counter. A small balcony opened to the outside but was not big enough for seating.

The room was comfortable and spacious, though I noticed small maintenance issues, such as a crack in the bathroom countertop, that could use attention.

Services/Amenities: The property offers five on-site social spaces. The parlor functions like a cozy living room and is adjacent to the 24-hour front desk. On Saturday afternoon my colleague and I relaxed at the rooftop Oasis, lounging poolside despite cloudier skies; at that time the rooftop felt private and quiet, like our own beach house. The Veranda provides an outdoor garden-style area with large tables, and the Playroom includes table tennis, foosball, and board games for casual fun.

We enjoyed a late-morning brunch at Local House Raw Bar & Grill on Saturday. It was a pleasant morning to sit outside and watch people go by. I had a crab cake Benedict, and my colleague chose the classic Eggs Benedict. We paired our meals with the signature Italian Bloody Mary and a mimosa, and finished with a sweet dish: the Local House French Toast, made with brioche, caramelized walnuts, apple syrup, and vanilla orange crème.

The Experience: Sense Beach House does not offer the flashy opulence found at some South Beach luxury hotels. If you seek grand, showy luxury, this is not the place. For a casual, homey beach experience with a laid-back, feet-in-the-sand vibe, however, it delivers comfortable, cozy accommodations and a relaxed atmosphere.
