Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has expanded its Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts brand in Greece by reopening the historic King George Hotel in Athens. The property, relaunched earlier this month as King George, a Luxury Collection Hotel, occupies a prime location between the Hellenic Parliament and the fashionable Voukourestiou Street, within easy walking distance of the Acropolis.
Originally opened in 1936, the hotel blends classic architecture with updated luxury amenities. The property offers 78 guestrooms and 24 suites, alongside a signature restaurant and bar. Guests can enjoy an indoor pool, a well-equipped fitness center, a business center and flexible event spaces suitable for meetings and special occasions.
A standout feature is the Royal Penthouse Suite, which occupies the ninth floor and includes two bedrooms, a private terrace and a swimming pool, providing a secluded retreat in the heart of Athens. With this reopening, King George becomes The Luxury Collection’s eighth hotel in Greece, reinforcing the brand’s presence in the country and offering visitors an elegant base for exploring Athens’ historic and cultural attractions.
