TAP Portugal has announced new nonstop service between Lisbon and two major U.S. gateways this summer: Boston Logan International and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. Flights from Boston will commence on June 11, while service from JFK begins July 1. Both routes will operate with the airline’s new Airbus A330 aircraft, configured to carry 271 passengers with 20 lie-flat seats in Executive Class, 104 seats in Economy Plus, and 147 seats in Economy. Each A330 will offer Panasonic EX-3 individual on-demand entertainment systems. Introductory fares for these new routes are currently on sale, starting at $799.
“It’s an exciting expansion that brings TAP’s international network to four U.S. gateway cities, making Lisbon more accessible to North American travelers and providing convenient connections onward into Europe,” said Fernando Pinto, TAP’s CEO.
To coincide with the route launches, TAP will promote Portugal across North America as both an attractive final destination and a convenient stopover for travelers continuing elsewhere in Europe. The carrier is highlighting Portugal’s culture, cuisine, and varied regional experiences to encourage visits tied to the new nonstop flights.
Flight schedules are timed for convenient overnight and daytime connections. From JFK, outbound flights depart at 11:30 p.m., arriving in Lisbon at 11:30 a.m. local time; return flights depart Lisbon at 5:00 p.m. and arrive back at JFK at 8:00 p.m. From Boston, outbound flights depart at 7:45 p.m., arriving in Lisbon at 7:20 a.m.; return flights depart Lisbon at 2:25 p.m., arriving in Boston at 5:00 p.m. These timeings aim to suit both leisure travelers and business passengers seeking efficient connections across the Atlantic.
TAP’s A330 cabin layout emphasizes comfort for long-haul travel: Executive Class features fully lie-flat seating for overnight rest, while Economy Plus offers extra legroom for added comfort, and Panasonic’s EX-3 system provides a broad selection of movies, TV shows, and music for individual entertainment throughout the flight.
With these additions, TAP strengthens its North American footprint and enhances direct access to Lisbon, an increasingly popular European hub. Travelers interested in the new nonstop service can book seats now and consider Portugal either as a standalone destination or as a gateway to the wider European network.
