CitizenM, the Dutch hotel group, is expanding with four new properties planned for 2017 in Paris, New York and Taipei.
In Paris the brand will open two hotels. The 175-room CitizenM Paris La Défense is scheduled to welcome guests this spring, while the 330-room CitizenM Gare de Lyon will follow in early summer. Both locations will join the existing CitizenM Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport property, strengthening the brand’s presence across the city.
In New York a 300-room CitizenM will open in the Bowery district near the end of 2017, adding to CitizenM’s current Times Square hotel. In Taipei the 267-room CitizenM property is set to open in April, further extending the brand’s footprint in Asia.
Looking ahead, CitizenM is preparing a property in Shanghai’s Hongqiao district slated for 2018 and continues to explore opportunities in other major markets. The company is targeting additional U.S. cities such as Boston, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles, while also pursuing expansion in Germany, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Hong Kong, Beijing, Jakarta, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
Founded in 2008, CitizenM positions itself as an affordable-luxury brand focused on contemporary design, streamlined technology and friendly, efficient service. Typical features across its hotels include complimentary WiFi and on-demand movies, large beds measuring two meters, and low-cost international calls via Skype. Guest rooms emphasize light and space with wall-to-wall windows and are equipped with a touch-screen “MoodPad” that controls lighting, temperature, window shades, alarm and TV, making the stay both modern and convenient.
