Blue Waters Resort Spa Antigua: Luxury Treatments & Ocean Views

I escaped the bitter Northeast winter with a short trip to Antigua and looked forward to a restorative spa treatment at Blue Waters Resort.

From the moment I landed, it was clear that Antigua follows a relaxed rhythm — a gentle, unhurried way of life that contrasts with my usual “go, go, go” pace. Even when I try to unwind, my mind tends to race ahead to the next task. I hoped the spa would help me settle into island time.

I started the day with a light breakfast of fruit and yogurt at The Palm restaurant before exploring the resort’s offerings. Blue Waters provides a wide range of activities for different tastes: water sports like kayaking and sailing, multiple pools, a sandy beach, tennis courts, a fitness center, off-site excursions, and 17 acres of lush gardens perfect for long walks. But the main item on my agenda was the spa.

The Spa at Blue Waters sits quietly on the far side of the property, just steps from the resort’s fine-dining venue, The Cove. I arrived early for my appointment and settled on a lounge chair that faced the ocean. Though my East Coast instincts pushed me to stay alert, the tranquil atmosphere and the staff’s gentle manners made it easier to relax. An attendant brought a glass of chilled, fruit-infused water, which was a refreshing complement to the sea breeze.

The spa patio offers a magnificent view. Perched on a hillside, the area beyond the waiting room provides a secluded yet open vantage point across the resort’s gardens and buildings — I could even spot my room from there. A small infinity pool edged the patio, tempting me to change into a swimsuit for a dip after my treatment, but I stayed put and let the sight of sailboats and seabirds set the tone for the day.

The spa menu changes seasonally to highlight island ingredients and treatments. Guests can choose from massages, body therapies and facials, or combine multiple services. Signature offerings include a lime and ginger salt glow, coconut rub and milk wrap, cellutox aroma ocean wrap, frangipani salt glow with massage, herbal lavender repair facial, pro-intense lift effect facial and an exotic moisture dew facial. There are also tailored treatments for men, couples and expectant mothers.

Beyond bodywork, the spa’s salon provides hair styling, manicures, pedicures and waxing. The Spa at Blue Waters operates Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and yoga on the terrace is available by appointment.

After completing the intake forms and finishing my water, my therapist escorted me to the ladies’ locker room where a candle and a bowl of essential oils released a calming lavender scent. I slipped into a robe and slippers, then followed her to a bright, airy treatment room where the gentle sound of the ocean provided a soothing soundtrack.

I chose the signature Swedish massage, a technique designed to relax the body, improve circulation, and ease stress and tension. Before starting, my therapist consulted me about preferences, trouble spots and any allergies. She concentrated on my upper back and shoulders, which were tense from a day of travel and hauling luggage. The firm pressure was exactly what I needed; it loosened knots and released built-up tension.

The spa uses Elemis products known for their skincare benefits. For my massage, the therapist applied a rich, nourishing lotion formulated with vitamins, amino acids, minerals and natural plant collagen. My skin felt silky and hydrated by the end of the session. At the conclusion of the treatment she rang a small bell, and I left the room feeling deeply relaxed and almost dreamlike as I rejoined the resort.

The rest of the day passed with a calm I hadn’t felt in a long time. Simple activities—wandering the gardens, lounging by the pool, and savoring the sound of the sea—felt luxurious and effortless. The Spa at Blue Waters transformed this busy East Coast visitor into someone who could truly embrace island time.
