The Luxe Collection by L.E. Hotels has expanded with the arrival of Hotel Hacienda de Abajo, a carefully restored 17th-century sugar plantation in the Canary Islands.

Located in Tazacorte on the island of San Miguel de La Palma, the adults-only Hotel Hacienda de Abajo is the first hotel established in the town and benefits from the island’s plentiful sunshine. The restoration retained much of the estate’s original layout and traditional Canarian architecture, and the property showcases more than 1,300 original furnishings and artifacts. Nestled between lush vegetation and the coastline, the hotel provides sea views and overlooks surrounding banana plantations.
“Luxe Collection classifications are not easy to come by,” said Efrem Harkham, founder and chairman of L.E. Hotels. “A property must combine historical significance, a prime location and exceptional service and amenities, and Hotel Hacienda de Abajo meets each of those standards.”
The intimate property offers 32 guestrooms and suites, from classic doubles to premium singles with balconies, terraces or direct garden access. All accommodations feature L’Occitane bath amenities and eco-friendly mattresses, bedding and towels. Rooms and public areas are decorated with artworks, furniture and tapestries from the island’s largest private art collection, enhancing the hotel’s historic character.
Guest services and facilities include a freshwater swimming pool, a Bath House for wellness treatments and the signature El Sitio restaurant, which complements the property’s blend of heritage and contemporary comfort.
