Mediterranean Sunshine: Coastal Recipes and Travel Guide

British Airways is adding four new summer routes from London Heathrow (LHR) to popular Mediterranean destinations. From May, the airline will begin scheduled services to Olbia (OLB) in Sardinia, Kos (KGS) and Corfu (CFU) in Greece, and Split (SPU) in Croatia. These routes will be operated using British Airways’ Airbus A319 and A320 short-haul fleet.

The new services expand the carrier’s seasonal network from Heathrow, offering both short weekend escapes and longer holiday options for UK travellers. With demand for sun-soaked breaks rising, the additions complement recent launches to Mykonos and Santorini and increase choice for customers planning summer travel.

Lynne Embleton, British Airways’ director of strategy, commented: “It’s great to be able to offer an increasing number of Mediterranean destinations for customers flying from Heathrow for that weekend break in the sun or for longer holidays. We know these new short-haul routes are going to prove very popular after launching services to Mykonos and Santorini earlier in the year and give our customers an even greater choice of places to get away from it all.”

Olbia, on the northeastern coast of Sardinia, is known for beautiful beaches, clear waters and easy access to the Costa Smeralda. Corfu combines historic towns, lush landscapes and welcoming resorts, making it a long-standing favourite for family and leisure travel. Kos offers a mix of ancient ruins and sandy beaches, appealing to culture seekers and sunbathers alike. Split, Croatia’s second-largest city, serves as a gateway to the Dalmatian coast and nearby islands, blending urban attractions with seaside escapes.

By deploying its A319 and A320 aircraft, British Airways will provide frequent, short-haul flights well-suited to these regional routes, enabling convenient connections from London to the Mediterranean. The move reflects growing demand for summer sun destinations and gives travellers more direct options from Heathrow for both quick getaways and extended holidays.

Passengers interested in these routes should check availability and flight schedules directly with the airline, as seasonal frequencies and timings may vary. With the additions, travellers from London will have increased flexibility to choose among established island favourites and vibrant coastal cities across the Mediterranean.
