Liz Biden, co‑owner, designer and the art curator for The Silo and its sister properties, said the appointment reflects the hotel’s ongoing commitment to contemporary African art. “Collecting art has always been a passion of mine,” she said. “In Michael, I’m delighted to have found an art concierge who shares this passion and who brings an authentic voice to conversations about how Africa is represented.”
Tsepo Jacobs joins The Silo with strong ties to Cape Town’s cultural scene. He was a member of the founding team at Zeitz MOCAA (Museum of Contemporary Art Africa), which is located beneath The Silo on the V&A Waterfront, and specialized in private museum tours. His experience also includes curatorial roles at several of the city’s recognised art and design venues.

Beyond museums and galleries, Tsepo Jacobs has supported local creative talent, helping Cape Town fashion designers reach wider audiences. At The Silo, his role will focus on designing art and retail experiences for guests, curating tailored city tours of contemporary artist studios, and facilitating meaningful encounters with African artists and makers.
In this role, Jacobs aims to spotlight African perspectives that explore both the continent’s historical depth and its contemporary stories. His programs are expected to enrich guest stays by connecting visitors with the vibrant, evolving cultural landscape of Cape Town and the broader region.
The appointment underlines The Royal Portfolio’s dedication to art-driven hospitality, integrating local cultural narratives into the guest experience while offering bespoke, educational and immersive art encounters for visitors to The Silo.
