How Celebrity Influence Shapes Consumer Choices

The chic Mexican retreat Las Alamandas is collaborating with a rising culinary talent from California to offer guests a week of fresh, inspired dining experiences.

John Paul Carmona, formerly chef de cuisine at Manresa in Los Gatos, California, will be presenting original dinner menus at Las Alamandas’ Oasis restaurant from April 14–19.

“Guests will be delighted by Chef Carmona’s creativity and refined technique as they dine al fresco beneath star-filled skies on warm tropical evenings at our Oasis restaurant,” said Isabel Goldsmith Patiño, founder and CEO of Las Alamandas. “Chef Carmona’s individual culinary voice complements our own commitment to garden-to-table ingredients and simple, inventive preparation.”

Carmona’s culinary roots trace back to his childhood in El Salvador, where he enjoyed his grandmother’s excellent cooking and helped her in the kitchen. His father encouraged his growing passion by providing fresh produce from the family farm.

Before joining Manresa, Carmona worked at notable restaurants including Clio in Boston, Alinea in Chicago and the two-Michelin-star Mugaritz in San Sebastián, Spain. He earned recognition as a Rising Star Chef from StarChefs and the San Francisco Chronicle in 2010, and appeared on Zagat’s “30 Under 30” list in 2012.
