Xiamen Airlines Launches New Fuzhou–New York Direct Flight

Chinese carrier Xiamen Airlines announced last month that it will begin nonstop service between Fuzhou (FOC) and New York (JFK) in February 2017. The airline, based in Xiamen, said the new route will operate three times weekly and be served with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner configured in three classes: four first-class seats, 18 business-class seats, and 215 economy-class seats.

The eastbound flight will depart Fuzhou at 9:15 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday and is scheduled to arrive at JFK at 10:55 a.m. local time. The return flight will depart New York at 12:55 p.m. and arrive in Fuzhou at 5:00 p.m. the following day (all times local). Reservations for the new Fuzhou–New York service are already open.

This New York route will be Xiamen Airlines’ second destination in the United States; the carrier is set to launch service to Seattle (SEA) on September 26. Since introducing the 787 Dreamliner into its fleet, Xiamen Airlines has been expanding its long-haul network with new destinations such as Amsterdam (AMS) and Vancouver (YVR). The airline expects to take delivery of its first 787-9 Dreamliner this December.

Xiamen Airlines also plans to add a Los Angeles (LAX) route in 2017, further extending its transpacific offerings.
