Finnair Reveals Sleek New Cabin Design for Passenger Comfort

Finnair has revealed the cabin layout and interior design for its new Airbus A350 XWB. The aircraft will seat 297 passengers, including 46 business class seats arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration that convert to fully lie-flat beds. Business class will also offer 16-inch touchscreens and individual power outlets for each seat.

The A350 interiors will feature dynamic LED lighting designed to create a calm and adaptable atmosphere, along with an upgraded air filtration system that refreshes cabin air every two to three minutes. Onboard WiFi will also be available.

Designer Vertti Kivi said the Space Alive concept brings Finnish design and flexible mood settings to the cabin. “Our concept uses dynamic lighting, colors and moods to suit the time of day, destination or season,” he explained. “For example, during descent into eastern destinations the cabin can be bathed in warm orange tones, while arrivals in Helsinki may be accompanied by fresh blue hues.”

Finnair plans to take delivery of the new A350 next year and will initially deploy it on long-haul routes to Shanghai (PVG), Bangkok (BKK) and Beijing (PEK). Service to Hong Kong (HKG) and Singapore (SIN) is scheduled to follow in 2016.
