Delta Launches Direct Daily Service to Mumbai

Delta Air Lines has announced a new nonstop route between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM), beginning December 22. The service will be operated by a newly renovated Boeing 777-200LR. Delta cites substantial growth in demand for travel between the United States and India over the past decade, noting that New York is the largest U.S. market to India and hosts the carrier’s biggest base of corporate customers.

“Delta’s nonstop service between New York and Mumbai is the latest example of our international growth as we strive to connect the world better than any other airline,” said Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Air Lines. He added that the route’s launch reflects the benefit of regulatory efforts to promote fair competition in international aviation, which helps ensure travelers have more choices.

The Boeing 777-200LR assigned to this route offers a full range of cabin classes: Delta One suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin seating. All passengers receive complimentary seatback entertainment, and the aircraft provides free mobile messaging via iMessage, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

The flight will operate daily, year-round. Westbound departures from New York are scheduled for 9:15 p.m., arriving in Mumbai the following night at 10:50 p.m. The return service departs Mumbai at 12:50 a.m. and arrives back in New York at 6:35 a.m.

This nonstop connection strengthens Delta’s transcontinental network and offers travelers a convenient option for direct travel between two major business and cultural hubs. With a mix of premium and economy products onboard the 777-200LR and complimentary in-flight entertainment and messaging, Delta aims to serve both corporate and leisure passengers on this long-haul route.
