Ethiopian Airlines will expand its Addis Ababa (ADD) to London (LHR) service to daily flights beginning July 8. The carrier currently operates the route six times weekly and will introduce a seventh weekly frequency using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to provide passengers with additional scheduling flexibility and enhanced onboard comfort.
Ethiopian Airlines’ decision to move to daily service responds to growing demand on this important long-haul corridor. The switch to a full daily schedule aims to serve both leisure and business travelers by offering more convenient departure options, improved connection opportunities through Addis Ababa, and consistent Dreamliner amenities such as a quieter cabin, increased humidity control, and upgraded in-flight entertainment.
Tewolde Gebremariam, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, said the increase allows the airline to better accommodate customers on one of its marquee routes: “We are very happy to finally be able to offer a daily service to our customers to and from London, one of our most important routes. We have been constrained to six weekly flights but from July our leisure and business customers can enjoy a greater flexibility with our state-of-the-art Boeing 787s affording ultimate on-board comfort.”
The move to daily operations also strengthens Ethiopian’s wider international network. The airline currently serves an extensive schedule of destinations, connecting passengers from London to Ethiopia’s hub in Addis Ababa and onward to Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and beyond. Ethiopian’s network includes a broad mix of international and domestic routes, supporting both tourism and business travel across its market footprint.
Passengers planning travel between London and Addis Ababa should see greater choice when booking flights after the change takes effect in July. The increase in frequency may provide better same-day travel options, easier connections to regional destinations, and more straightforward ticketing for those arranging multi-leg itineraries through Addis Ababa.
For travelers valuing comfort on long-haul flights, the use of Boeing 787 Dreamliners on the route is a notable benefit. The Dreamliner family is designed to enhance passenger experience through improved cabin pressurization, higher humidity, larger windows, and quieter engines, which together contribute to reduced fatigue on overnight and long daytime sectors.
As always, schedules and equipment are subject to change, so travelers should confirm exact flight times, baggage allowances, and onboard services with Ethiopian Airlines or their travel provider when making reservations. The expansion to daily service represents the carrier’s response to market demand and its continuing investment in long-haul connectivity from its Addis Ababa hub.
