W Hotels Opens First Italian Property: What Travelers Should Know

The W Rome is scheduled to open in 2021 as the first W Hotel in Italy. Located in the elegant Via Veneto area, the hotel will occupy two adjacent 19th-century buildings on Via Liguria that were originally government offices. The design preserves the historic architectural elements while introducing a contemporary, social luxury experience.

The property will feature 159 guestrooms and suites, including an Extreme WOW suite. Public spaces will include a rooftop signature bar, the W Living Room, two restaurants and modern event facilities. Guests can also expect a FIT workout facility and a spa, providing both wellness and leisure options within the hotel.

“Rome is one of Italy’s most stylish and fashionable cities, and therefore a perfect destination for the W brand. With its boundary-breaking design, buzzing spaces and unique style, W Rome will inject a new and decidedly social style of modern luxury to the Roman hospitality scene,” said Jenni Benzaquen, vice president, luxury brands, Europe, Marriott International.

“This latest signing shows that even in mature markets like Rome, W Hotels is fortunate to collaborate with visionary developers such as the Omnam Group who are equally passionate about creating an exciting and original hospitality experience,” added Carlton Ervin, chief development officer, Europe, Marriott International. “The choice of W Hotels for their prime development reflects our shared confidence that the brand’s inimitable offer will be perfectly attuned to this spectacular city to meet the needs and desires of future travelers in the Italian capital.”

At present, W Hotels operates seven properties in Europe. Several new openings are planned over the coming years, including W Tel Aviv, and upcoming properties in Madrid, Belgrade, Portugal, Marbella and Edinburgh, expanding the brand’s European footprint and bringing its signature design-driven hospitality to more destinations.
