Wow Air has announced changes to its seating and pricing structure, introducing business-class-style seats, higher baggage allowances and priority boarding.
Effective June 1, the Icelandic carrier will introduce a new cabin category called Big Seats. These seats offer a 37-inch pitch and will be fitted on the airline’s Airbus A330 aircraft that operate long-haul flights between Iceland and the U.S. West Coast.
“We have worked hard to lower the price of airfares across the Atlantic to give more people the opportunity to travel,” said Skuli Mogensen, founder and chief executive officer of Wow Air. “Now we intend on lowering the prices for business by providing many of the same services for a much better price.”
Big Seats will also be available on Wow Air’s A320 and A321 aircraft, and passengers will be able to choose from larger seat options ranging roughly from 32–34 inches up to 35–37 inches.
The carrier is also rolling out tiered travel bundles that let customers upgrade beyond the standard fare. The three bundle options are Wow Biz, Wow Plus and Wow Basic.
Wow Biz, starting at $195, includes a business-class-style seat, a handbag or laptop bag, one carry-on bag, one checked bag, seat reservation, cancellation protection, priority boarding and a complimentary hot meal and drink onboard. This bundle will be available beginning March 1.
Wow Plus, from $100, includes an economy seat plus a handbag or laptop bag, one carry-on, one checked bag and cancellation protection.
Wow Basic, starting at $32, covers an economy seat and a personal item that must fit under the seat in front.
Passengers can also buy larger seats as an add-on independent of the Wow Biz bundle. Promotional pricing is available using the code WOWSALE for return trips from London Gatwick (LGW), Bristol (BRS) and Edinburgh (EDI) through June 10.
