Explore India’s Wildlands: Top Wildlife Adventures & Safari Journeys

Wildland Adventures has introduced a new itinerary that delves into India’s rich spiritual heritage. Scheduled for Feb. 9–18, 2019, the “Diving into Immortality” journey concludes with two days at the Kumbh Mela — the Festival of the Urn — in Allahabad, a gathering many Hindus regard as the spiritual heart of India.

In the week leading up to the festival, travelers will visit both New and Old Delhi, proceed to Amritsar — the spiritual center of Sikhism — and spend time on the sacred banks of the River Ganges in Varanasi and Allahabad. The route is designed to provide a broad, immersive look at religious life and practice across traditions.

The program features cultural highlights such as a visit to the National Handicrafts Museum and opportunities to attend an evening Palki Sahib ceremony at the Golden Temple. Guests can also visit a working rural farm and participate in a candlelight Aarti ceremony on the Ganges, where floating candles are released onto the river in a moving ritual of light and devotion.

Accommodations are upscale and carefully selected, including stays at the well-regarded Claridges in New Delhi and the five-star Swarna Amritsar. Pricing for the itinerary starts at $6,395 per person, based on double occupancy and excluding international airfare.
