ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: Located at Hollywood and Vine, the W Hollywood sits in the heart of an iconic and bustling neighborhood. When you step into the lobby the street noise falls away and the hotel’s energetic, modern vibe takes over. We arrived well before the official check-in time after an early-morning flight, and a friendly front desk agent quickly located two ready rooms for us, ran through the essentials of the property, and sent us on our way.
GUEST QUARTERS: My room, labeled a Spectacular Room, lived up to its name. The layout immediately drew my attention to a comfortable window seating area—an ideal spot to catch up on work or simply unwind. I ended up relaxing there long enough to drift into a restorative nap.
The bed was exceptionally comfortable, set on W Hotels’ signature European-style platform. I later discovered these beds are sold to the public; it’s an option I’m seriously considering. The room’s entertainment package felt modern and complete, with an LG flat-screen TV, CD/DVD player and an iPod docking station.
The shower surprised me. At first I questioned the pressure, then realized the stream delivered a steady, invigorating flow that felt more like a massage than a quick rinse. I lingered longer than planned and walked away refreshed.

SERVICES/AMENITIES: The lobby opens into several well-designed common areas suited for both work and relaxation, all brightened by a large wall of windows. A dramatic winding staircase leads to a second-floor lounge that offers additional seating and workspaces. Photographs by Luke Fontana add personality to the space, blending classic and contemporary Hollywood imagery throughout the hotel.
Dining options include three on-site restaurants, and the rooftop wet deck features a bar beside the pool and numerous lounge chairs. The panoramic views are excellent, and private cabanas provide a quieter place to rest or nap away from the main deck.
For business travelers the hotel offers a variety of meeting spaces. From intimate rooms designed for focused sessions to large multi-use areas equipped with a bar, audiovisual systems and scenic views, the W can accommodate a range of corporate needs.
The fitness center is open 24 hours. While not oversized, it contains a solid mix of equipment—free weights, strength machines and cardio gear like an elliptical—making it easy to get a complete workout at any hour.
TOP TAKEAWAYS:
The W Hollywood serves as a vibrant base for exploring the neighborhood’s famous theaters and the Walk of Fame. Attractions such as Universal Studios are a short drive away and reachable for most visitors.
The hotel successfully bridges Hollywood’s past and present with engaging art and design touches. Guests frequently pause to photograph the artwork and décor, and I found myself doing the same—small moments that capture the spirit of the place.
Whether you’re seeking an energetic, social environment or quiet, private corners for work or rest, the W offers a variety of atmospheres—almost like staying in several hotels at once. It’s a versatile choice for both leisure and business travelers looking to be in the center of Hollywood.
