Travel already brings enough complications without adding the risk of identity theft. New products now help protect your personal data from electronic pickpockets and would‑be hackers. One such innovation is the SignalVault system: two slim cards, the size of a driver’s license, that slide into your wallet on either side of your credit and debit cards to provide radio‑frequency identification (RFID) blocking and signal protection.
SignalVault uses a passive E‑Field Technology that requires no batteries, charging, or activation and remains unaffected by the scanners used in airports and courthouses. The company rates the microchip in each card for 100,000 protection cycles under normal use—an amount they compare to resisting repeated unauthorized reads over many years. Designed for everyday use, the cards are intended to perform reliably for approximately three years.
In addition to the card pair, SignalVault offers a TravelVault RFID passport case and a travel wallet, both with integrated signal protection and available in black and pink. The products have been tested in an electromagnetic interference chamber by Qualtest, Inc. (now part of N.T.S.), a U.S. test, inspection, and certification company. SignalVault also provides customization options for businesses that want to include company branding on the cards.
