Grand Hyatt Hong Kong: Luxury Harborfront Hotel & Dining Guide

Arrival/Check-In: A Grand Hyatt Hong Kong representative met me at my gate at Hong Kong International Airport, escorted me to baggage claim, waited for my luggage and introduced me to my driver, who took me in a Mercedes-Benz sedan for the 35-minute drive into the city. Because I was booked on the Grand Club executive floor, staff met me in the lobby and accompanied me to the Grand Club lounge. From there I took a second elevator to my top-floor Ambassador Harbor View suite, where a private, efficient check-in was completed. I was delighted to meet my personal butler, Bobby, who explained my Club privileges and gave a brief tour of the suite.

Guest Quarters: The suite’s double front doors opened to a marble entryway with a guest bathroom to the right. A few steps further led into the living area, where floor-to-ceiling windows ran the length of the room and showcased sweeping views of Victoria Harbour and Kowloon. The décor blended Western and Asian influences: crisp white walls, bold red artwork, dark timber furniture and cream sofas. Two couches and a glass coffee table faced a large flat-screen TV. A full-sized desk offered plentiful outlets and two international converters, which I used for my iPad, laptop and phone; the complimentary WiFi was fast and reliable.

The dining area featured a round table with four chairs and a fully equipped kitchenette. The minibar was not entirely complimentary, but the room provided a good selection of fresh teas and coffees. Fresh fruit and cookies arrived daily and were enjoyed throughout my stay.

In the bedroom, floor-to-ceiling windows provided a beautiful view to wake up to, and heavy curtains effectively blocked morning light when I wanted to sleep. A vanity table beneath the TV was convenient, though the lighting was not ideal for makeup. Because there were no open outlets at the bedside, my butler thoughtfully installed a power bar so I could keep my phone charging and accessible overnight.

The bathroom was finished in dark green and white marble and included a generous vanity area for toiletries. June Jacobs bath products smelled wonderful and were a nice touch; the large spa tub fit two comfortably, and the separate walk-in shower worked well. While the bathroom lacked a full-length mirror, the floor-to-ceiling mirrors in the living area served the same purpose.

Services/Amenities: The Grand Club at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong ranks among the best club floors I’ve experienced. Club staff printed my boarding pass, offered shopping recommendations and gave clear directions for the MTR. The Club lounge is spacious with excellent harbor and city views, making it a pleasant spot for breakfast or evening cocktails. Comfortable seating and a fireplace create a welcoming atmosphere for relaxing or entertaining guests. The fitness facilities on the 11th floor, alongside the spa, outdoor pool and 400-meter track, provided abundant cardio machines and weights and were rarely crowded.

The Experience: The hotel’s prime location in Hong Kong’s financial district, adjacent to the convention center, makes it ideal for business travelers and those seeking luxury alike. The lobby can be lively when conventions are in session and the bar hosts evening gatherings, but the hotel’s nine restaurants and bars invite lingering and socializing. My stay was smooth and enjoyable. The butlers checked in frequently, bringing snacks, offering recommendations and ensuring everything was in order, which added a personalized touch to the visit. I look forward to returning to the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.
